Our Engagement Party

Thought I would share a few images from our recent 1930's themed Engagement Party that we held in a little old croquet club by the sea at Woody Point at Redcliffe.

It was so wonderful to see everybody dressed up in full swing, very authentic, sipping out of champagne coupe glasses, playing croquet, conversing on hay bales and generally having a glorious afternoon in the winter's sun..... Thank you everybody for all your efforts.

If you would like to see more pop over to Studio Sixty's blog

Lemon Chicken Sandwiches with Tarragon

I recently served these Chicken and Lemon Sandwiches with Tarragon at our 1930's themed Engagement Party and they were a smash! If lemon zing, creamy mayonnaise and tarragon are your thing keep reading!

These gorgeous little chive encrusted triangles are one of my favourite things to eat; they look impressive for an event and taste very refreshing. They are even great for a casual on the run weekday sandwich too.

The original recipe is from Donna Hay (I know, I know, she really is too good! She made these for Oprah!), though I like to 'french' mine up a bit by adding lemon zest and tarragon and leaving out Donna's mint and basil.

Here we go...

Lemon, Tarragon and Chicken Sandwiches
Makes 24 delicious little triangles

INGREDIENTS

12 Slices of White Bread
Soft Butter for Spreading
2 Cups of Chopped Cooked Chicken (320grams)
3/4 cup of Whole Egg Mayonnaise (I use the Kewpie Japanese Mayonnaise)
2 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
2 Tablespoons of Lemon Zest
1 Handful of Tarragon
Sea Salt and Cracked Papper
Extra Mayonnaise for spreading
Handful of Finely Chopped Chives

METHOD
Spread one side of each bread slice with butter.

Place the chicken, mayonnaise, lemon zest and juice, tarragon, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix to combine.

Divide chicken mixture between half the bread slices and top with remaining bread slices.

Cut sandwiches into small triangles and brush one side with the extra mayonnaise.

Press the mayonnaise side of the sandwich into the chives (I keep mine on a plate).

Serve.

Ode to Enamel

I love old original enamelware! I love how practical and utilitarian the approach is with enamel - no nonsense. Plus I think it looks pretty attractive too, especially the white palette!

It looks as though I will have quite the collection come Saturday on offer at Travelling Wares, we have colanders, ladles, skimmers, pitchers, and some stunning old sets of white storage canisters.
All kitchens needs a dash of enamel!

Coco

What to wear!!! What to wear!! Think I might take my lead for our Engagement Party from Coco Chanel's 1930's Deauville seaside style. What do you think? So effortless and fresh,
ooh Coco....
