Stock Sneak Peek

©Kara Rosenlund

Would you believe I am actually doing a last minute source for tomorrow's market. I have been invited somewhere very secretive and very exclusive to have a poke around, so lets hope I find some delights for us all!

Above are a couple of shots of some new stock.

Old English platters, perfect proportions for roast chicken with heavy silver cutlery.

Trio of white French plates with gold trim.

Gorgeous old Tinware for baking cakes and making bread and also a set of cookie cutters.

Generous mule coloured French Napkins with silver cake lifters and pretty cake plates.

Enamel colanders in white and also cream!

Plenty more to come!

Market Reminder!

Hope to see you tomorrow!

I have spent the day preparing and pricing stock and I must say that I really think I have out done myself this time - I can measure this by how much I actually want to keep and NOT sell! Hahaha!

Just finished packing the ute, plus the inside of Frankie and had to make an SOS call to my wonderful parents and ask them to take some stock into the market in their ute too for tomorrow! Thank you Mum and Dad! I love you!

Available will be a fantastic and an 'en masse' array of flatware, french tumblers, pickling jars (perfect proportions for vases), glass cake stands, a huge collection of baking tins in various shapes and sizes and really so much more. You simply just must come! So much beautiful stock to share!

I'm so excited! Delirious in fact! (apologies for any spelling errors).
Early night for me!
Hope to see you there!

Market THIS Saturday!

That's right folks, we are going to be at the Powerhouse Markets this Saturday, bright and early!

I have had a lot of beautiful things arriving through the doors here since the last market. As I mentioned last week lots of blue and white, lots of all white (of course), a few smaller pieces of furniture (wait until you see this beautiful French wooden stool!), and more general gorgeousness!

I'll try to post a sneak preview later in the day!
I'm so exited, can't wait til Saturday!

Favourite Things

Thought I would share a couple of my favourite things that will be available on Saturday!

Old French Wicker Baskets; I love these, either for laundry or for toys or even for your fire wood. Very versatile, you can never have too many (isn't that right Timothy O - mmm, we have quite a few).

A few of you have been asking after these - lovely old butter house/bells, I managed to snap this lovely heavy glass one up recently. I hate packaging, so everything is always decanted into glass jars or canisters - including the ol' butter!

A pair of old English bowls with strong Portuguese influence, very unusual. I recently styled a cookbook (more on that to come) with photographer Nikole Furnari and these were perfect for the shoot.

For something a bit unexpected, an educational map of South America. Now, we all know about Inca gold, let me tell you that this is 'vintage map gold!' Ready to hang. Ah, I love maps.

I'm so excited about Saturday, hope you are too!

White Sneak Peek

This one is for all you white lovers out there (myself included!).
Here is a sneak peek at what will be available this Saturday at the Powerhouse Farmers Market. A beautiful array of white ware and pale wood for the kitchen.

I personally think produce should only be served on white plates, just like an art gallery with white walls, there are just some things you shouldn't mess with!

Stock Sneak Peeek

Thought I would share a couple of shots with you of what will be on offer at the 'Travelling Wares' Market stall this saturday.

I personally love mixing vintage pieces with the new; it elevates the interest in your home and offers a unique approach to decorating a room. Be it the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom, you should always have at least one thing in each room that it older than you - which doesn't include your Nana! ha

Thank you all for your support with Frankie. I'm really excited about this new adventure. If you would like to be kept in the loop we have a facebook page now and I'm now on Twitter. Gosh, hope I have enough to chat about!

EXCITING NEWS Travelling Wares Launch

Finally I can share with you my EXCITING NEWS! I recently bought a gorgeous vintage 1956 Franklin Caravan (affectionally known as Frankie) and have turned her into my 'Travelling Wares' pop up Caravan Shop! Yup, thats right, I have a caravan now, which is also a shop!

A love of early morning hunting and scouring at the trestle tables in Europe has inspired me to get amongst it myself and share my objets d'art and found delights with you from far and wide.

Come along this Saturday to the Jan Power's Powerhouse Markets at New Farm and say hi! On offer will be European porcelain, Polish enamel ware, silver cutlery, small furniture pieces and goodness knows what else!

Milkie White

One of my all time favourite things to do is to go treasure hunting in thrift shops. I do approach it like a sport and I do tend to take it a tad seriously apparently; there are rules, strict colour codes, objects of desire, route maps and there are even 'lucky charm' favourite car parks in each of my regular op shops to wish me luck upon embarking.

Just yesterday I came across a little handful/armful of delights; white vintage glazed china. I just can't get enough of it (as you can see from the above image); I love the crazing and the delicate unique creaminess of each piece.

A friendly fellow treasure hunter approached me to compliment my selection, she told me that if I wanted to strengthen the pieces to soak them in hot milk for a few hours.
I love ol' world kitchen tales
